Thomas Chen - An Extension of Myself Exhibition

The Duality of Mankind as I feed the lion / as I tame the lion (detail), digital c-type print by Thomas Chen 2022

Thursday 19 July – Sunday 3 September

An Extension of Myself is a collection of artworks exploring the complex relationship between creativity and identity. This exhibition invites an exploration of the many facets of Thomas Chen’s identity through a diverse collection of prints and mixed media pieces. Each piece in the exhibition reflects a different aspect of his personality and creative vision, from vibrant colours to striking poses.

Through my artworks I seek to communicate a sense of authenticity and vulnerability, inviting viewers to connect with my experiences and emotions on a deeper level.

Thomas Chen won the Tanks Arts Centre Curator’s Award at the Energy exhibition in 2022, earning him a solo exhibition within a year of graduating from Trinity Anglican School. Now, while studying a Bachelor of Design at Melbourne University, Thomas has been creating these haunting and engaging photographic images, proving his worthiness of attention as a young, emerging artist; indeed, a one to watch.
