Council operates and supports many community markets across the region, showcasing local businesses and the unique wares that Cairns has to offer. The markets are a great day out for all ages, locals and visitors alike.


Tanks Markets

Held on the last Sunday of each month from April to November at Collins Avenue, Edge Hill.

Tanks Markets offers a vibrant showcase of local art, crafts, fresh produce, vintage clothing, collectables, and natural health products and treatments. Enjoy a relaxed day exploring a variety of stalls, live music from local artists, delicious food, and refreshments.

This free, family-friendly event is managed by the Tanks Arts Centre at Cairns Regional Council. For more details and stallholder applications, visit the link below.

Carnival on Collins

Sunday 6 September 2026 from 9am to 2pm at Collins Avenue, Edge Hill

Carnival on Collins, a regular Father's Day tradition, attracts visitors and locals to the city's Botanic Gardens and Tanks Arts Centre precinct for a giant day of family fun. Featuring loads of free entertainment for people of all ages, it's a slice of life in the tropics, with 200+ market stalls offering local art and craft, produce, plants, food and refreshments.

Carnival on Collins is managed by the Tanks Arts Centre at Cairns Regional Council as part of Cairns Festival.

Cairns Children's Festival is seeking expressions of interest from stallholders for its inaugural Mini Makers Market.

We’re on the hunt for young makers aged 7–17 to join our Mini Makers Market at Tanks Arts Centre and Cairns Botanic Gardens on Sunday 17 May 2026. With a jam-packed day of creativity and exploration, the festival puts little people with BIG ideas in the spotlight and welcomes around 8,000 kids and their families on the day.
