Landscaping Practical Completion

The Landscaping Practical Completion Application ( PDF, 0.34 MB ) must be emailed to planningadmin@cairns.qld.gov.au.

The accompanying Landscaping Practical Completion Guideline ( PDF, 0.63 MB ) details the requirements for the application.

The application for Landscaping Practical Completion shall include the endorsed/approved landscape plan, or an accepted ‘As Constructed’ Landscape plan.

Following receipt and review of a properly made application, Council officers will send a calendar invitation to the nominated representative, for the Landscaping Practical Completion Inspection.

The inspection will take place on site with Council representatives to ensure a comprehensive technical inspection of the endorsed/approved landscaping work.

If the inspection outcome is determined to be a pass, a Landscaping Practical Completion Endorsement will be issued shortly after the inspection.

Landscaping at the Landscaping Practical Completion Inspection must be in accordance with the requirements of the endorsed/approved Landscape Plan, the conditions of the endorsement/approval, the FNQROC Development Manual and Councils standards.   A detailed Landscaping Specifications checklist is available in the Landscaping Practical Completion Guideline ( PDF, 0.63 MB ) to assist the applicant in ensuring the completed landscaping aligns with Councils acceptance standard for landscaping at the Landscaping Practical Completion inspection.

The image below is an example of the expectation of the acceptance standard for the landscaping works at the Landscaping Practical Completion Inspection and at the Final Works Acceptance following the establishment and maintenance period. The verge areas without active building works, have been established and maintained with the correct level of grass coverage, weed free and mowed. The street trees are healthy, well-formed, secured and mulched.

If the initial Landscape Practical Completion inspection does not pass, a re-inspection fee will be due before a re-inspection can be booked, as per the current Fees and Charges Schedule ( PDF, 0.05 MB ).

Our goal is to have the Landscape Practical Completion Inspection within 2 weeks of the request for an inspection. Timeframes will be impacted where submissions are incomplete, or inspections identify unresolved issues.
