A cadet is an undergraduate or postgraduate student from a recognised university who undertakes work placements with Council during their study and semester breaks. A graduate has completed their undergraduate or postgraduate studies from a recognised university.
Cadets and graduates are employed on a casual basis and paid in accordance with the relevant Award and Enterprise Bargaining Agreement.
All cadets and graduates must be:
- 15 years and over
- an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or hold a permanent residency visa or temporary residency visa
- undertaking (cadets) or have completed (graduate) undergraduate or postgraduate studies at a recognised university
Complete a drug and alcohol medical assessment
Council will recruit for Cadets and Graduate positions when business and operational needs arise. All positions will be advertised on Council’s eRecruitment page.
The selection process may involve:
- Written application
- Reference checks
- Pre-employment medical (including drug and alcohol testing)
