How to apply

All applications must be submitted online using Council's eRecruitment system (Mercury). Simply click on Current Vacancies, find the position that interests you and follow the prompts. You will need to submit a separate application for each position you are interested in. All online applications should reach us by 10:30pm AEST on the advertised closing date.

Application consent details

You may choose to give your consent to be considered for other similar positions within Council over the next 3 months. However, giving this consent does not automatically mean that your application will be considered for all positions at Council. A separate application must be submitted for each vacancy.

When you will hear from us

After applying online you will receive an immediate acknowledgement that your application has been received. Applicants will generally be notified of the outcome of their application within two to four weeks of the application closing date.

Late applications

No, once a job has closed it is not possible for an applicant to address the selection criteria on line. Therefore we will no longer be accepting late applications. We recommend that you subscribe to our job alerts, to ensure you receive notification as soon as any new jobs are published, to give you plenty of time to apply before the closing date.

If you are shortlisted for an interview

You will be contacted by the Chair of the selection panel if you are selected for interview. You must bring along any original certificates or licenses that are required of the position for verification by the selection panel.

Referee checks are carried out post-interview for the selection panel's recommended candidate.

Assessment of skills/ability to perform tasks

In some instances Council may require you to undertake a practical assessment to demonstrate your skills and ability to perform the tasks of the position and/or a pre-employment medical assessment.

Pre-employment assessments

As part of the selection process applicants may be required to undertake some or all of the following pre‑employment assessments / checks.

  • Pre‑employment medical, which may include a functional capacity assessment and drug and alcohol test
  • National police / criminal history check
  • Practical assessment
  • Numeracy and literacy assessment
  • Computer skills assessment
  • Qualification / licence verification
  • Working with Children & Young People (Blue Card) Verification
  • Right to Work in Australia check
  • Background / directorship check
