Selina Kudo - Oh, Justice

Exhibition: Fri 17 Jan - Sun 23 Feb 2025
Launch: 6pm, Fri 17 Jan

Oh, Justice is a site-specific installation by multimedia artist Selina Kudo. The work amplifies the emotional and political urgency surrounding justice. Through the kinetic figure of Lady Justice in a state of fury, this work explores the symbolic ideal of the harsh realities faced by women who continue to fight for equality, safety, and recognition in legal and societal systems.

Accompanying the Lady Justice kinetic sculpture is a video collage that juxtaposes images from Google Earth of locations where injustices against women have occurred, with a superimposed video of Lady Justice in a state of rage, her movement emphasising the urgent need to confront and address these injustices.

This work challenges viewers to confront the complexities of justice for women, using the rage-filled dance of Lady Justice as a powerful metaphor for the broader struggle, highlighting the profound cost of delayed or denied justice borne by individuals and communities.
