“The voices of my ancestors’ echo through time and continue to impart cultural learning that forms the identity of who I am, my world view and how I live my life. The voices of those who came before are still strong and will survive the passing of time.” (Harriet Mills)

Dante, Wypaan, Harriet, and Lilly, known collectively as Galbu Geth (Girl Hand) shared the Tanks Arts Centre Curators’ Award in last year’s Energy exhibition, the first time this award has been given to a group of year twelve art students, challenging them to create an exhibition together on the theme they so strongly spoke to in the work they presented at Energy.

Now in their first year, post-high school, between new studies and new jobs, these four young artists have created new works, reaffirming their attention to the voices of their past, and finding their own.
