Weave some magic at Cairns Children’s Festival!

Step into a world of colour and creativity with Slow Art Collective’s Star Weaver Pavilion! This interactive installation is an ever-growing, community-made tapestry, where kids (and grown-ups!) can weave, knot, and create using sustainable materials like bamboo and recycled yarn.

Never tried weaving before? No worries! This is all about exploring and having fun. Learn simple techniques like finger knitting, macramé, and knot-making at your own pace—no rules, no right or wrong, just creativity in action! Whether you stay for five minutes or an hour, your contribution will help shape this vibrant, evolving masterpiece.

But the Star Weaver Pavilion is more than just an artwork—it’s a space for connection. A place to meet new friends, share stories, and be part of something bigger. Slow Art Collective’s philosophy is all about collaboration and sustainability, turning simple materials into stunning, large-scale installations through shared creativity.
