Cairns Regional Council’s investment in emissions reduction and climate change adaptation is guided by its Climate Change Strategy 2030 and Coastal Hazards Adaptation Strategy.
With a commitment to Net Zero Emission by 2030 and 100% renewable electricity for its operations, Council is playing its part in the region’s transition to a more resilient, low carbon future. Details of each commitment and progress to date is provided below.

Council has committed to support community progress towards Queensland’s emission reduction targets of 30% below 2005 levels by 2030 and net zero emissions by 2050.
