Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games

In 2032, Queensland will welcome the world as the host of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.Cairns Co-Host 6 Years to Go to Brisbane Olympics

Cairns is proud to be a Co-Host City of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and has been identified to host one Olympic sport at the upgraded Barlow Park Stadium.

The Olympic Games will be held from 23 July to 8 August 2032, followed by the Paralympic Games from 24 August to 5 September 2032. Alongside the Games Delivery Partners, Cairns Regional Council will play an important role in planning for and supporting the delivery of the Games across Queensland.

This once-in-a-generation opportunity will elevate Cairns' profile on the global stage, enrich our community, and accelerate investment in critical infrastructure. As part of the Games, upgrades will be delivered to Barlow Park Stadium, the Cairns Western Arterial Road and sections of the Bruce Highway, creating a lasting legacy for the region well beyond 2032.

Council is actively working to not only meet its Co-Host City obligations but also maximise opportunities through strategic partnerships, advocacy and investment attraction. Our focus is on ensuring the Games deliver enduring economic, social and environmental benefits for Cairns and the wider region.
