30 June - 30 July 2022

A celebration of Queensland First Peoples’ fashion design, wearable art, photography and performance as seen on the runway and on Country through the pandemic.

CIAF’s Fashion Story captures the outstanding creative fashion and performances from 2018 - 2021. We start by honouring the Regional Indigenous Fashion and Textile Showcase (RIFTS), a grass roots and inclusive community driven annual event which began in 2012, led by respected community leaders Bronwyn Singleton and Maria Laxton igniting the region’s fashion journey.

Curatorial duo Simone Arnol and Bernard Singleton thoughtfully considered connection with Country resulting in culturally saturated Fashion Performances and at times unapologetically provocative.

Be mesmerised by the stunning detail of the fashion, wearable art and photographic gallery of the naturally sourced body adornments and Fashion Performances filmed on Country.

CIAF acknowledges the first Fashion Curator and Designer Grace Lillian Lee in delivering CIAF Fashion Performance 2014-2017.
