Cattana Wetlands Jabirus
Find out more about the history, flora and fauna of Cattana Wetlands Environmental Park and enjoy the self-guided tour.
The Jabirus formed in November 2013 and have made a huge impact on the Wetlands weeds.
Weedy vines used to cover many of the trees surrounding the main lake, known as Jabiru Lake. With the work from our volunteers, visitors are able to take in the glorious views of the wetlands and the flora and fauna.
They have also been involved with controlling the dreaded Salvinia molesta, a water weed which has devastated many waterways throughout Queensland.
Their input into the masterplans and management plans has been greatly appreciated by Council staff.
Please note that dogs are prohibited at Cattana Wetlands.
The Jabirus meet each Tuesday.
