Flood advice for Mulgrave and Russell Rivers: Threat reduced

Flood Advice: Threat is reduced – Mulgrave and Russell Rivers

This will be the final advice issued for this flood in the Mulgrave and Russell River catchments.

The Cairns Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) advises that for people in the Mulgrave and Russell River catchments that the water has gone down.

Flooding is no longer occurring at Peets Bridge and Gordonvale.

Heavy rainfall earlier this week caused river level rises along the Mulgrave and Russell Rivers during Tuesday and Wednesday. River levels are now easing with isolated minor flooding occurring at Clyde Rd.

Further showers are forecast during Thursday and Friday but significant rainfall totals are not expected.

Minor flooding is occurring along the Mulgrave River. The Mulgrave reiver at Peets Bridge and at Gordonvale is expected to remain below the minor flood level

Russell River levels are easing with isolated minor flooding occurring at Clyde Rd.

Safety Advice:

Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
