Star Apple is an evergreen tree with round fruit the size of an apple. It gets its name from the star-shaped pattern of the seeds.

The skin of Star Apple is smooth and shiny, and changes colour from green to dark purple upon ripening. The white flesh is soft, juicy and sweet with a flavour blend of apples, grapes and pears. The skin is rich in white sticky latex making it inedible. Avoid eating the seeds.

Star Apple is often grown as an ornamental due to its attractive foliage: the leaves are glossy and dark green on the upper surface with coppery tones on the underside.

Other uses: wood, medicine

The star apple is native to the West Indies and Central America

The fruits are very sweet, with a pulpy, jelly-like texture,
