The Healing Power of Industrial Ink & Magic, a Sister Cities Exchange exhibition

Black Cockatoos, etching/aquatint by Meredith Arkwookerum

14 September – 29 October 2022

Cairns and Riga have been sister cities since 1990. Of all our sister cities, Riga has participated the most in exchanges of a visual arts nature, including ceramics, photography, textiles, and now printmaking.

The Healing Power of Industrial Ink and Magic brings together the work of printmakers in our region, curated by master printmaker, Theo Tremblay, with the work of printmakers in Riga, Latvia, curated by Baiba Ābelīte. Showing concurrently in Riga’s VEF Culture Palace and the Court House Gallery in Cairns, the exhibition celebrates the spirit of sharing and the connections we make in our communities of artists.
