Councillor Kristy Vallely
Councillor Kristy Vallely was elected the Division 6 Councillor at the 2020 local government elections. She was re-elected in 2024.
A long-term Cairns resident, mother of two, business owner and community advocate, Cr Kristy is deeply connected to the local community through her family, volunteer work and leadership roles.
Having raised her children in the region she has spent more than a decade actively involved in local schools and community organisations, gaining an understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing local families.
Her leadership style is grounded in empathy, emotional intelligence and a strong commitment to representing the interests of residents and businesses.
With more than 20 years of leadership experience across government, business and community sectors, Cr Kristy has developed extensive expertise in governance, stakeholder engagement, strategic communications and organisational leadership.
Prior to Council, she served as General Manager of Harleys Educational, leading teams, operations and business growth. She is also the founder of The Imperfect Mum, a nationally recognised community platform that connected more than 100,000 members and delivered events and conferences across Australia. Her work has brought together government, business and community stakeholders to create meaningful outcomes, strengthen community connections and foster collaboration across diverse groups.
Cr Kristy’s contributions have been recognised through a number of honours, including Cairns Regional Council Woman of the Year and the AusMumpreneur Making a Difference Award.
