Northern Beaches water network upgrade

In progress
Infrastructure

As part of a $31M strategy to improve supply and reliability of water to the northern beaches, Council is undertaking works over a 10-year program which includes installing and replacing water pipes within the Cairns water supply network to allow increased water flow and reduce breakages. Once complete, the northern beaches community from Palm Cove to Yorkeys Knob and Lake Placid (approx. 34,000 residents) will benefit from the upgraded infrastructure and should experience less water interruptions.

Timeframe

Works are programmed over eight stages, with stage six underway in Kamerunga, and is expected to be completed by June 2021 subject to favourable weather conditions. Residents and businesses in the area will be continually updated throughout the life of the project. The community are encouraged to visit the Works In Progress page for project updates.
