Down 'n' Dirty Gardening Group

Down ‘n’ Dirty began in 2009 with two members who came to us with an interest in assisting in the Botanic Gardens.

Since that time there have been over 180 volunteers registered with original members still attending while others gaining employment or leaving Cairns.

This group has a weekly attendance of about 20 volunteers and includes:

  • General garden detailing
  • Pruning
  • Weeding
  • Mulching
  • Turfing
  • Specific projects organised by the Cairns Botanic Gardens’ staff

The Down 'n' Dirty group volunteers on Wednesday mornings from 9am to noon.
