Transparency Portal
The Transparency Portal is an online portal that puts detailed financial and other Council performance data at the community’s fingertips.
Council is committed to transparency, accountability and integrity. We believe in open channels of communication and making it easy for residents to access information about our decision-making, services and operations.
The portal has been established to improve public access to council data, including detailed financial reports, governance outcomes, planning and community services. The range of data available through the portal will be continually expanded.

Rates benchmarking report
The 2024-25 benchmarking exercise revealed that rates and utility charges within the Cairns Regional Council area are at the lower end of the comparison to other local government areas.
State of Procurement report
The latest State of Procurement report reveals that Council’s record $463 million local spend in 2024/25 supported over 4,500 jobs and delivered a $1 billion impact to the region’s economy.

Annual budget
Council's annual budget ensures adequate revenue to fund expenditure, including infrastructure to service the region.
Council meetings
Ordinary meetings are generally held on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month (unless an alternative date has been advertised) and are chaired by the Mayor.
Councillor conduct register
The Local Government Act 2009 requires Council to publish a Councillor Conduct Complaints Register, listing complaints made against councillors and the outcome of these complaints.

Contracts awarded over $200,000
As required under the Local Government Regulation 2012, Council publishes a list of contracts worth $200,000 (ex GST) or more. The report is updated monthly.
Rates, fees & charges
Council levies rates against residential and commercial properties to help fund essential services. Statutory fees and charges are set each financial year.

Council collects and stores information about the region, properties, land, individuals, even animals. Legislation governs your rights to information and privacy
