About Cr Trevor Tim
Cr Trevor Tim is a proud First Nations man with deep roots in the Waanyi/Gangilidda tribe on his father’s side and Erub Darnley Island in the Torres Strait on his mother’s side. He has called Cairns home for 46 years. He completed his education at Cairns State High School and has now become the first Indigenous Councillor elected to represent the vibrant Cairns community.
Trevor and his wife Jackie, both alumni of Cairns State High, have been married for 33 years. Together, they’ve built a life in Brinsmead, raising four children and enjoying the company of their four grandchildren. Trevor’s career spans three decades in the tourism industry, and he has co-founded a motivational speaking business, “Success With Attitude,” with his close friend Bram Collins.
In addition to his work in tourism and public speaking, Trevor is also the host of “National Talkblack,” a popular radio program on Cairns Indigenous Radio Station, Bumma Bippera Media (BBM 98.7FM). He is dedicated to keeping the Cairns community informed and connected.
Trevor is known for his positive, healthy lifestyle—he does not drink, smoke, or use drugs. His energy and enthusiasm are evident in everything he does, and he is passionate about making a difference in the community. As a Councillor, Trevor is committed to serving the people of Cairns with integrity, respect and a genuine love for his city, always striving to keep Cairns a place where everyone can thrive.
Division 4 includes Earlville, Kanimbla and Mooroobool, and parts of Manoora and Manunda.
