Closures and updates following severe weather

Lake Morris Road has closed following heavy rainfall, with strong winds, fallen trees and landslides creating unsafe conditions for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.

The road will reopen when it is clear and safe.

Residents may find multiple park, road and waterway closures as a result of weather conditions. This currently includes:

  • Cattana Wetlands
  • Crystal Cascades
  • Babinda Boulders
  • Rotary Park, Babinda
  • Ryan Weare Park
  • Greenpatch campground
  • All Council managed sporting facilities
  • Goomboora Park is currently being assessed for potential closure
  • Palm Cove Jetty is currently being assessed for potential closure

A large amount of debris is also affecting paths along the Cairns Esplanade, and the community is urged to avoid the area while machinery is on site undertaking clearing works.

Across the Cairns region, closures may change rapidly while we prioritise community safety.
