New Cairns airport bus cleared for takeoff

Travelling from Cairns airport into the CBD will now be a streamlined experience with the new Route 100 service taking travellers directly from terminal to town.
The route will travel directly from the airport to Fogarty Park in the Cairns CBD and will include stops along the Cairns Base Hospital, private hospital, and Esplanade Lagoon.
Funding was confirmed for the Bus Link in July 2026 after an announcement in Parliament by Queensland Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brett Mickelberg MP. The announcement was made following sustained advocacy from Council and industry stakeholders that Cairns needed reliable, cost-effective transport for visitors from the airport into the city, reducing traffic and congestion on the airport road.
The airport bus stop will be located between the international and domestic terminals at the Cairns Airport and will be running from Monday 23 November, 2026.
Timetables will be available closer to the launch date on the Translink website.
