People in Mulgrave and Russell River Catchments advised to monitor flood conditions

Flood Advice
Cairns Disaster Group advises that minor flooding is occurring in the Mulgrave River and flooding is occurring in the Russell River.
People in those catchments are advised to MONITOR CONDITIONS.
The Bureau of Meteorology advises that MINOR FLOODING is occurring at Peets Bridge and at Gordonvale.
Heavy rainfall Tuesday and Wednesday across the Russell and Mulgrave River catchments has resulted in river level rises and flooding.
Flooding is also occurring along the Russell River.
The Mulgrave River at Peets Bridge is likely to peak on Wednesday evening, with minor flooding.
The Mulgrave River at Gordonvale may peak overnight Wednesday into Thursday, with minor flooding.
Rain is predicted to continue overnight and through Thursday.
Impacts in your area:
- River and creek levels are rising.
- There could be some flooding near the river and creeks.
- Bridges and low lying roads may be impacted by floodwater.
- Very heavy rain will make it dangerous to drive.
- Local areas are isolated until flood waters recede.
Safety Advice:
- Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
- Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
- Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
- Check the ABC and local media for updates. The situation can change quickly, so stay informed.
