Local businesses were provided with valuable insights into Cairns Regional Council’s upcoming projects during a full-capacity session at the annual Infrastructure and Assets Industry Briefing last Friday.
With more than 70 business representatives in attendance, the briefing delivered a detailed overview of Council’s 2025–26 capital works program.
Now firmly established as a key forum for local industry, the event helps businesses prepare for upcoming tenders and bids while strengthening partnerships with Council.
Mayor Amy Eden emphasised Council’s strong support for small businesses and the importance of giving local suppliers the confidence and tools to successfully engage in the tender process.
“As a Small Business Friendly Council, we are proud to continue prioritising local spending and backing the backbone of our economy,” Cr Eden said.
“Council plays a vital role in strengthening Cairns’ economy by creating jobs and investing in local goods and services. Our focus is on working closely with local industry so Cairns businesses can continue to grow and thrive.”
Attendees were given crucial insights into the scope of upcoming Council projects, spanning consultancies through to major construction works.
For those unable to attend, Council will share key highlights and resources from the session, ensuring all interested businesses can access the information presented.
Businesses wanting more information about the Capital Works Program or future partnership opportunities are encouraged to contact Council’s Infrastructure and Asset Directorate at CIAengagement@cairns.qld.gov.au.
