Temporary closure of Lake Morris Road

Published: 10th October 2025. (Note: information was correct at date of publication but may have since been changed or superseded.)

Cairns Regional Council advises that Lake Morris Road, Kanimbla, will be closed to all traffic on Monday 13 October 2025, from the bottom gate through to Copperlode Falls Dam.

The closure is required to allow crane access and essential operational works to be safely carried out at Copperlode Falls Dam. During this time, no vehicle, cyclist, or pedestrian access will be permitted along the closed section of the road.

Lake Morris Road is expected to fully reopen to the public on Tuesday 14 October 2025, pending the completion of works and favourable weather conditions.

Council appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as these important works are undertaken to ensure the continued safety and functionality of this key infrastructure.
