Water activities for under 5s

There are so many ways you can discover the wonders of water.

Pick one or all of the activities from our “Water Wonders” grid to carry out with your kindergarten group or your kids at home to begin your water journey and continue to grow your appreciation of Cairns Water.

Water wonders

  1. Paint rocks to remind people to save water and place around the house.
  2. Fill a page of paper with pictures of things that need water to survive.
  3. Go on a scavenger hunt and make a boat from found objects.
  4. Can you fill a cup of water using only a spoon in 1 minute?
  5. Make a musical instrument that sounds like rain?
  6. Play "Simon Says" with water saving actions.
  7. Find a book that features water and read it to your family.
  8. Make icicle eggs by filling balloons and placing them in the freezer.
  9. Make a joy jar and fill it with all the things you love about water.
