Cairns Regional Council offers a unique opportunity for schools, early learning centres, community groups, and residents to book free waste & recycling presentation (incursion) sessions.
Tailored for various age groups, Council's engaging and informative Waste Education Presentation sessions explores waste types, environmental impacts, Cairns Regional Council's waste and recycling management processes, and collective proactive measures for environmental protection through material reduction, reuse, and recycling. Interested Schools, Early Learning Centres, community groups, and individuals can now book their own presentation session requests directly through our new automated booking system (see below). Please note, terms and conditions apply for each presentation session.

Book a free presentation for Cairns regional school students, adaptable for classes, cohorts, or assemblies. The presentation explores waste types, environmental impacts, Cairns Regional Council's waste and recycling processes, and collective proactive measures for environmental protection through material reduction, reuse, and recycling. Book a Free Early Learning Centre presentation suitable for age 4 and above. The age appropriate interactive and fun presentation explores different forms of waste, impacts of our waste on the environment and what happens when we place waste and recycling in bins here in the Cairns region. Children are also introduced to what it means to reduce, reuse & recycle waste. The session concludes with a hands on waste sorting activity, where each child receives a prize for participating. Terms and conditions apply, minimum group size 15 participants.

Book a free, informative and engaging presentation by Cairns Regional Council’s Waste Education Officer, who will give you a comprehensive overview of CRC Resource Recovery operations and share with you tips and tricks on how to reduce, reuse and recycle waste better at home, work and school. Terms and conditions apply. Minimum group size: 15.

- Presentations are available to schools, early learning centres and community groups within the Cairns Regional Council area only.
- Sessions are offered Tuesday to Thursdays, between 9:00 am and 2:30 pm of the school term.
- Age and participant number restrictions apply based on the presentation type.
Presentations are provided free of charge provided the following aspects have been provided:
- A suitable space for presentation delivery (room/hall/venue space allowing for total
number of participants including presenter) - Suitable AV system for participant numbers (with tested/working projector, TV-HDMI
connection, speakers)
Further Terms & Conditions for each presentation type apply.
Presentations may need to be cancelled or rescheduled with short notice in the event of extreme weather conditions, staff illness or due to Council operational requirements.
