What's Brewing: Wombat Stew Story Walk

Wombat Stew Childrens Festival
Sun 19 May: Gondwanan Evolution Walk, Cairns Botanic Gardens
Times: 8.30am to 3pm
Cost: Free

Presented by Cairns Libraries, an exciting adventure is brewing, combining a gooey amount of literature, a yummy ounce of nature, and a big chewy pile of imagination, which makes for a perfect recipe for family fun! The Wombat Stew Story Walk encourages a love for reading while enjoying the outdoors, using the beautiful setting of the Cairns Botanical Gardens as a backdrop.

By bringing to life the story of 'Wombat Stew' by Marcia Vaughan, children are immersed in the novel's narrative and engaged to explore and discover its themes in the great outdoors. Our enthusiastic adventurers will be caught up in the suspense and adventure of thwarting the clever dingo's plan of attempting to concoct a stew with a wombat as the main ingredient! Will they save the wombat and free him from the stewpot?

Join us at 10am for the biggest Wombat Stew Jam, with special guest, Jaye from Uplift Music.

The Story Walk can be experienced at your own pace or with a guide. Guided sessions will run at 9am, 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm.

First 5 Forever is an initiative of the Queensland Government, coordinated by the State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government.
