Lake Morris Road

This project is part of a program of works Council has developed to reconstruct selected essential public assets to be delivered with assistance provided by the Australian and Queensland Governments through the jointly funded Commonwealth-state Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA). Over $80M of funding has been approved for this program.

Lake Morris Road provides vehicle access to the region’s main water supply of Copperlode Falls Dam. It is also extensively used by the community for recreational and active uses such as cycling and walking.

The flooding caused by Tropical Cyclone Jasper caused several landslips and washouts along Lake Morris Road.

Works to date include the construction of retaining structures at five locations where the road embankment failed.

The road is currently open but may be temporarily closed at times for further works when required.
