Casuarina Street Bridge naming
Council is building a new permanent bridge at the northern end of Casuarina Street, Holloways Beach, to replace the section of road washed away during flooding, with works expected to be completed by March 2026 (weather permitting).
To mark this important project and celebrate Cairns’ 150-year anniversary in 2026, Council is inviting the community and the Yirrganydji Traditional Owners to help name the bridge. The new name will likely be a dual name that honours both the resilience and recovery of the Holloways Beach community and the deep cultural connection to Country of the Yirrganydji people.
