Looking to make a loving connection this Valentine’s Day?

Council is inviting the community to meet a range of rescue cats and kittens searching for new homes at this year’s Cat Adoption Day.

Council’s adoption days have been changing lives since 2019, with more than 463 cats and dogs finding new homes, including approximately 210 cats and kittens.

Cat Adoption Day brings together some of the region’s most dedicated rescue groups, making it easy for potential adopters to connect with animals in need, all in one place.

Each cat and kitten available for adoption is desexed, vet-checked and ready to find their forever home.

Participating organisations include Adopt Me Kittens, RSPCA, Rags to Riches, YAPS, and 4 The Love of Cats.

Division 4 Councillor Trevor Tim said Cat Adoption Day was a wonderful opportunity for residents to make a meaningful difference in an animal’s life.

“These adoption days help animals find safe, permanent homes, as well as shine a light on the incredible work our local rescue organisations and volunteers do every single day,” Cr Tim said.

“We’re proud to support their efforts and encourage anyone considering a pet to choose adoption.”

Events like Cat Adoption Day give these animals greater visibility while highlighting the vital work being done by foster carers and volunteers across the community.

Adopting a pet is a long-term commitment, and rescue groups will be on hand during the event to provide guidance on responsible pet ownership and help match families with the right feline companion.

Residents considering adding a cat or kitten to their household are encouraged to attend, meet the animals, and learn more about the adoption process.

The event will be held on Saturday 14 February 2026, from 9am to noon, at the Animal Care & Education Centre, 55-57 Links Drive, Woree.
