Thirteen local clubs are receiving support to keep delivering the sporting, recreational and community services that residents of all ages rely on.

Cairns Regional Council is allocating $269,000 through the 2025/26 Go Clubs Infrastructure Assistance Grant to improve facilities across the region.

Recipients include:

  • Cairns and District Senior Citizens Association Inc – $14,897
  • Cairns Model Aero Club – $17,586
  • Cairns Netball Association – $25,000
  • Cairns Saints Australian Football Club Inc. – $15,910
  • Earlville Pony Club – $24,983
  • Ellis Beach Surf Life Saving Club – $22,370
  • Freshwater Tennis Club – $25,000
  • Leichhardt Football Club Cairns – $17,274

  • Southern Suburbs Rugby League Club – $25,000
  • Stratford Bowls Club Incorporated – $25,000

The successful projects will deliver a wide range of community benefits, from upgraded clubhouses, improved lighting and security systems, and enhanced accessibility.

Additional works such as new shade structures, water refill stations and essential repairs will further ensure facilities remain safe, functional and welcoming.

These upgrades will strengthen club operations, increase participation opportunities and ensure community facilities remain fit-for-purpose well into the future.

Council will also work with unsuccessful applicants to identify future funding options and support the ongoing growth and resilience of local community groups.
