Cairns Regional Council advises that works crews are scheduled to start work tomorrow (Wednesday 11 February) on upgrades to the Ellis Beach carpark.
Initial works will include the removal of trees and drainage works, which are expected to have minimal impact on car parking availability.
More disruptive construction activities will start from Monday 16 February 2026, weather permitting.
The upgrades are expected to take eight weeks to complete, weather permitting, with works taking place from 6.30am to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday.
To allow works to proceed as scheduled, there will be minor delays and limited public access to the car park during the construction period.
Arrangements for public parking will be provided on weekends.
Also, a turnaround area will be provided for delivery vehicles under traffic control.
Further updates will be provided as required.
Please observe and obey traffic controllers and signs advising the changes to normal traffic conditions.
Council appreciates your patience and cooperation during this time.
If you have any concerns or would like further information about these works, please call 1300 69 22 47 or email feedback@cairns.qld.gov.au
