Cairns Regional Council has approved funding for two community events through the Community Partnerships Grant program.

Babinda Harvest Festival Inc has been awarded $25,000 (ex GST) to support the delivery of the 2025 Babinda Harvest Festival, to be held 6 to 7 September.

Now in its 61st year, the iconic event attracts over 5,000 locals and visitors for a celebration of community, food, arts, and culture in the township of Babinda.

Yorkeys Knob Residents Association Inc will receive $5,000 (ex GST) to assist with the Twilight Christmas Markets, now in its fourth year.

Taking place on 29 November, the free event is expected to draw around 2,500 people.

The Community Partnerships Grant supports community-led events and initiatives that foster connection, celebrate local culture, and enhance the wellbeing of the Cairns region. Grants of up to $25,000 (ex GST) are available for eligible groups, with funding provided as cash or in-kind Council support.
