Safety tree works continuing at Babinda Boulders
Published: 21st October 2025. (Note: information was correct at date of publication but may have since been changed or superseded.)
Cairns Regional Council wishes to advise that safety tree works are continuing at Babinda Boulders following earlier disruptions, with further activity scheduled from Wednesday 22 October. These works are essential to ensure public safety after recent debris wash-ins.
Large trees that were washed into the main swimming area during recent weather events are being removed, requiring a temporary exclusion zone at the primary swimming pool and picnic area.
Access to this area will be restricted throughout the works period. The exclusion zone is expected to be lifted by Thursday 23 October, subject to weather conditions and any unforeseen issues.
Visitors are encouraged to use alternative upstream swimming areas during this time. Please note that swimming downstream remains prohibited.
Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.
