Community, Sport, Events and Cultural Services Committee
About the Committee
The Community, Sport, Events and Cultural Services Committee was established on 12 August 2020 as a separate committee to allow Councillors to focus on the delivery of programs across facilities, programs and services associated with the libraries, sport and community services; major events; cultural services facilities, programs and services (Cairns Performing Arts Centre, Tanks and Martin Munro Parklands), and community grants. The Committee's Terms of Reference ( PDF, 0.17 MB ) establishes the framework within which the Committee operates.
Meetings will usually be held on the second Wednesday of each month in the Council Chambers in Spence Street. Meetings will be open to the public unless the Committee goes into closed session for discussion and debate. No vote is taken in closed session.
- The Table of Contents for all Council and Committee meetings will be published on the Friday afternoon before the next meeting. All Open Session reports to be considered at the meeting shall be published in full on Monday afternoon prior to the meeting. Reports listed to be considered in the Closed Session of the meeting are not released to the public.
