The Opportunity

Reporting to the Associate Director Engineering Services, we now have an exciting opportunity for you to lead a diverse and high performing team that are responsible for planning, design and delivery phases of Council’s capital works program.
We are seeking an authentic people leader who is strategic minded with strong relationship skills and who will empower and support others by giving them the authority and latitude to accomplish tasks. As a leader, you are open and responsive to change and deal comfortably with ambiguity and complexity. You will influence change with clear communication and facilitation by adapting your leadership approach to reflect the needs of the changing environment.
Key initiatives include:
- Contributing to setting a clear direction and purpose for the Project Management Office.
- Leading, inspiring, and cultivating an effective and efficient Project Management Office, steering ongoing improvements in processes, methodologies, and tools.
- Fostering engagement across Council to ensure a one-enterprise view of Council’s capital works program portfolio management and encourage a cooperative interface across disciplines in relation to project management issues.
The Team
With 5 direct reports and an overall team of around 80, our Project Management Office team are a dedicated, nimble, professional team who are passionate about delivering Council’s capital works program, to ensure essential infrastructure is provided to our community now and into the future.

About you
The successful applicant will possess superior leadership, communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to promote and support the achievement of a customer focused organisation.
You will also set high standards with a commitment to and practice of a participative leadership style that supports, motivates and inspires individual, team and corporate achievements. This position will also be required to focus on continuous improvement providing strong change management leadership.
The successful candidate will have a tertiary qualification in Engineering and/or equivalent level of expertise and significant executive level leadership experience.
To succeed in this role, you will need experience in procurement, project management and contract management and a solid understanding of financial management and budgetary experience.
