Cairns Regional Council provides funding and operational support to events of all types across our region. Before applying, read Council's Major Events Sponsorship Policy ( PDF, 0.2 MB ) as well as the below details on connecting with Council and providing a proposal for future support of your Major Event within our region.

Council's events program aims to obtain, evaluate, and choose sponsorships for major events, leading to a variety of collaborative events each fiscal year that maximise the regional benefits derived from Council funds.

Major events sponsorship proposals are competitive, with each proposal assessed individually and comparatively against other regional opportunities.

A 'major event’ is defined as large-scale event activities that provide significant economic and regional benefits, through a commercial partnership between the external event owner/operator and Council.

Council’s Economic Development and Advocacy team manage Council’s acquisition and sponsorship support for 'major events’.

For other event-related information and funding opportunities available, please visit our community grants page and the public places and events forms section for further information.

Submit a proposal

Proposals can be submitted on the online form or via a tailored proposal document that contains all the information required in this form.
