2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Roadmap
Help shape the Cairns 2032 Games Roadmap
Cairns has been confirmed as a co-host city for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, with preliminary football matches at Barlow Park, training at Endeavour Park, and potential indoor sports at the Cairns Convention Centre. This milestone presents a unique opportunity to deliver lasting economic, social, and environmental benefits for our region.
Cairns Regional Council is seeking community feedback to help identify Cairns’ strengths, key opportunities and priority areas. Your input will inform the development of the Cairns 2032 Games Roadmap, guiding strategic planning, legacy investments, and initiatives to attract tourism, trade, sporting events, and broader community development.
The Roadmap will align with Council's broader strategic initiatives like the Major Events Precinct and the Cairns City Precincts Urban Regeneration Project.
Your feedback will help shape a lasting legacy for Cairns during and beyond the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Feedback closes Friday 5pm 13 March 2026.
Major Events Precinct
The Cairns Major Events Precinct is a strategic parcel of land covering an area of approximately 26 hectares located in close proximity to the Cairns city centre. The precinct is comprised of a number of component parts which together, provide a strong foundation to further develop the site as a major events precinct of national significance in the lead up to the Brisbane 2032 Games.

Cairns City Precincts Urban Regeneration Project
The Cairns City Precincts Urban Regeneration Project delivers a growth framework for central Cairns, focussing on how precincts around the CBD can develop, how strong connections can be made between precincts and the CBD, and how increased housing supply and diversity can be supported. All of this is done through a design-led framework that amplifies the unique attributes of Cairns that are so important to the local community.
