Temporary closure of City Library car park

Published: 9th October 2026. (Note: information was correct at date of publication but may have since been changed or superseded.)

The Cairns Regional Council City Library car park will be temporarily closed from Monday 12 to Friday 16 October 2026. The library will remain open, with all services, programs and facilities continuing to operate as normal.

Visitors are encouraged to use the adjacent Lake Street public car park or nearby on-street parking and allow extra travel time, during this period.

The drive-through returns chute will also be unavailable during the closure. Items can still be returned inside the library during opening hours, via the returns chute at the library entrance, at any of Council’s other seven library branches, or at the DFO Shopping Centre drop-off point at Westcourt.

Council thanks library users and the community for their patience and understanding.
