Every year once the Christmas Tree has been installed and decorated, we invite the community to come celebrate the start of the Festive Season.
Come on down and be part of the official Cairns Christmas Tree Light Switch-On!
This year, Dusty the Christmas Beetle and his friends will be joining us to celebrate, performing three live shows of The Greatest Gift.
Meet Dusty and his friends, enjoy the festive entertainment, and join in all the Christmas fun!
The Christmas Tree lights-up at 7pm, by the Mayor, and the winners of the Christmas eCard Competition.

Road Closures:
To allow for the Christmas Tree Light-up festivities, the Esplanade will be closed to all traffic between Spence St and Shields St from 4pm till 9pm on Sunday 30 November 2025.
