Temporary closure of 50-metre swimming pool at Tobruk

MEDIA RELEASE

Published: 4th July 2023. (Note: information was correct at date of publication but may have since been changed or superseded.)

Maintenance works will start at the end of this month to replace joint sealant on the 50-metre swimming pool at Tobruk Memorial Pool.

The 50m pool will be closed from Monday 31 July to Sunday 8 October as the pool will need to be drained for the maintenance works.

The works are part of regular maintenance, which needs to be undertaken to maintain a watertight seal, improve the visual appearance of the pool, and ensure the safety of patrons.

Council consulted with the facility’s lessee to determine the best time to undertake the works, with consideration given to the cooler weather and lower patronage.

The 50m pool will be enclosed in fencing during works for public safety.

Patrons of the facility can expect some disruptions, such as increased noise and reduced access.

All other facilities, including the 25m outdoor pool, 25m indoor pool, toddler pool, the Flowrider, Coaching Zone, fitness facilities, trampoline park and kiosk will remain open.

Council apologises for any inconvenience.
