Additional works needed at Tobruk 50m pool

MEDIA RELEASE

Published: 20th September 2023. (Note: information was correct at date of publication but may have since been changed or superseded.)

The 50m pool at Tobruk Memorial Pool will remain closed until the end of the year due to unexpected ongoing maintenance.

The pool was closed in July to carry out regular maintenance, which needed to be undertaken to maintain a watertight seal, improve the visual appearance of the pool, and ensure the safety of patrons.

Council has recently identified additional works that involve the replacement of tiles, which has delayed the maintenance program.

The 50m pool will be enclosed in fencing during works for public safety.

Patrons of the facility can expect some disruptions, such as increased noise and reduced access.

All other facilities, including the 25m outdoor pool, 25m indoor pool, toddler pool, the Flowrider, Coaching Zone, fitness facilities, trampoline park and kiosk will remain open.

The pool is scheduled to reopen in December, depending on weather and favourable site conditions.

Council apologises for any inconvenience.
