Deputy Mayor Terry James and Cr Brett Moller will represent Council at this year’s LGAQ Annual Conference.

Council has six votes per motion at the LGAQ annual conference and can send two delegates to participate.

Mayor Bob Manning and Cr James were originally appointed as delegates in May, however Cr Manning is now unable to attend.

The 2023 LGAQ Annual Conference will be held 16-18 October at the Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre.

Each year, the LGAQ calls for motions to be submitted by its 77 member councils for inclusion on the conference agenda for consideration and voting by delegates.

Four motions submitted by Cairns Regional Council will be considered at this year’s conference:

  • Review of the referral process between local government and the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC)
  • Responsibility and cost of rectifying combustible cladding
  • Clarity and consistency regarding Local Government responsibilities under the Building Act 1975
  • Waste levy and advance payment review.
