Clean up advice for inundated suburbs only

MEDIA RELEASE

Published: 19th December 2023. (Note: information was correct at date of publication but may have since been changed or superseded.)

The following clean-up services and advice applies to homes that were inundated in Holloways Beach, Yorkeys Knob, Machans Beach and Caravonica.

Mud and debris

The SES and Rural Fire Service will be conducting ‘wash outs’ for homes that have been inundated with water.

This is not a cleaning service. The SES will use high-pressure hoses to clear mud and debris from homes.

Residents must request a ‘wash out’ service from the SES by calling 13 25 00.

Residents should remove furnishings, appliances, including fridges and freezers, and personal items from any area that needs to hosed out. Items left in homes can be damaged by high pressure water.

Waste

Residents whose homes were inundated in Holloways Beach, Yorkeys Knob, Machans Beach and Caravonica should place flood-damaged items in their front yard, near the kerb, for Council collection.

Council will begin collections once roads have been assessed as safe.

Please place all regular household waste – in particular food – in your normal red-lid or green-lid bin.
