Help shape our Flood Recovery Plan
MEDIA RELEASE
Published: 19th April 2024. (Note: information was correct at date of publication but may have since been changed or superseded.)
In response to the recent severe flooding caused by ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper that has impacted our community, Cairns Regional Council is developing a plan to assist our community on its path to recovery.
As part of this process, Cairns Regional Council has partnered with James Cook University (JCU) to conduct a rapid social needs assessment to identify those needs our community feel are important to support their recovery and long-term resilience.
Understanding people’s recovery needs – related to aspects of emotional, financial, physical, material wellbeing - is critical to help our whole community to recover quickly.
The survey will aim to understand both short-term and medium-term recovery needs (up to 12 months), with a view to understanding longer-term support requirements.
This information will support Council and its regional partners in promoting and supporting recovery across the Cairns LGA.
The survey is open from 19 April to 10 May, is anonymous and no identifying personal information will be collected.
You can complete the survey at https://form.typeform.com/to/tVS02jtP.
