Infrastructure charges will be waived for an approved four-storey development that will increase accommodation options and create local jobs in Cairns City.
Council has approved a COVID-19 investment incentive request of $220,581.30 for the mixed-use development, which includes 12 three-bedroom apartments and commercial tenancies, to be built on McLeod St and Water St.
An infrastructure agreement will ensure at least 80% of the workforce are local contractors and tradespeople.
When finished, the development is expected to bring more people to the Cairns CBD, provide additional housing options and signal confidence to the development sector.
