Ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper will not dampen the festive spirit in Cairns this Sunday, with Carols in the Park still going ahead at the Cairns Performing Arts Centre.

Mayor Terry James said the decision to move the highly-anticipated event to CPAC was the result of heavy rainfall which had impacted Munro Martin Parklands.

“The annual Carols event has become a cherished tradition in our community,” Cr James said.

“We understand the effort and dedication that goes into making this event a success. And we want the Cairns community to have the chance to come together and celebrate the joys of Christmas.”

Capacity for the event is 1300, combining the CPAC Theatre and Studio. Live performance in the main Theatre and streamed into the Studio.

This is a free event, however, to manage numbers, event goers need to secure a ticket through Ticketlink. Tickets will be available from Friday afternoon.

CPAC will open at 5pm with the main event starting at 6.30pm. The CPAC bar will be open for drinks and light refreshments.
