Council has backed a proposal to retain aged care south of Cairns to support the existing residents of the facility in Babinda.

Council resolved to support the transfer of the management of the facility on King Street in Babinda from Cootharinga Society of North Queensland to Regional Housing Limited (RHL).

RHL is a not-for-profit company managing emergency, transitional, and long-term social housing as well as a range of complementary support programs.

These programs are funded through a variety of State and Commonwealth Government agencies and are all targeted to low-income and high needs target groups.
