Over 60s are invited to enjoy live entertainment and learn about services that are available to them at tomorrow’s Positive Ageing Expo.

Being held at the Cairns Performing Arts Centre, the free event, from 9am to 1pm, provides seniors and carers with the chance to meet relevant service providers, businesses and community groups.

More than 40 stallholders will be part of the expo, with Rowly's Country Combo providing live entertainment in the main theatre from 11am to midday.

Although free, tickets must be reserved for the live entertainment (call Ticketlink on 1300 855 835 or book online at www.ticketlink.com.au).

The popular seniors’ lunch has already been booked out.

Mayoress Claire Manning said the Positive Ageing Expo was a popular event, which provided a very important service to local seniors and their carers and families.

“It is a social and fun setting for people to interact, and the expo provides the perfect chance for seniors to talk to services providers for more information on how to stay healthy and active as they get older,” Mrs Manning said.

“It is also a chance to celebrate and acknowledge the role that older people play in the community.”

There will be free parking available on site, complemented by a variety of on-street and off-street parking, both paid and unpaid, available close to the venue.
